Battle-tested: From soldier to business leader
In March 2010, Senior Editor of Fortune Magazine, Bob O'Keefe, published an article highlighting the benefits of hiring military Veterans in civilan jobs as they return home from war and re-enter the workforce. With Fortune 500 companies like Wal-Mart and Coca-Cola developing strategies to recruit junior military officers, citing Veterans' world-class leadership talents and training, many corporations are seeking to tap into the talent pool of the country's servicemen and women.
As companies compete for the best candidates, they are realizing the potential of military Veterans and are actively seeking to hire them, said Larry Slagel, senior vice president of RecruitMilitary, a headhunting firm. RecruitMilitary recently reported that more than half of the companies in the Fortune 100 have come to them for recuiting assistance in the past three years.
