Jeanne, tell us about your current role at SHRM and what your number one challenge is during COVID-19.

Currently, working from home has become a reality for a wide swath of employees and in many organizations literally overnight with no warning or time to train your managers or staff.
So where do you start?

Why did you choose a career in HR?
Now if you’re a recruiter in the talent space, you already know that texting is becoming one of the best technologies to actively and passively recruit and communicate with applicants and prospective recruits. It’s fast, cheap and accessible anywhere, at any time. But today’s post is not about using text messaging for recruiting…it’s about avoiding it for your mental health.
I have always been fascinated by the variety of dress codes at work. My early years at work were predominately suites and ties, and most recently, jeans and casual button downs. My thirty-five-year career has seen every type of dress code. And once I started working in HR, I had a say in what was acceptable.
Thanksgiving. It means something different to each and everyone of us in the USA. Beginning in the early 1600s New England, this tradition of giving thanks and gathering family and friends with a feast after a season of farming has become America’s holiday regardless of your personal religion. We treat it as a secular holiday every year on the fourth Thursday of the month and everyone is welcome to participate!
