It’s a challenging time. Political divisiveness is rife. Economic gaps get wider. And now, the world is on edge over the health and economic impact of a new virus. It’s clear to me that employers must become the trusted entity in peoples’ lives, in addition to the source of earnings, career and job fulfillment. Any company that fails to do this will lose top people, lose top customers and fail to achieve its financial goals.

How are you holding up? It’s a question we should be asking everyone we know. I’m positive I never thought I’d live to see a situation where all of life as we know it was altered in a matter of days. So, how are you holding up?

We are approaching Valentine’s Day and the risks that go with it.

Of course, everyone should know that it is inappropriate to send a card with a sexual or suggestive message.  This is particularly problematic where there is a power disparity, but it is not limited to such occasions.

The other day, I was scrolling through Facebook, and I get a notification that my friend and college roommate tagged me.  He shares very openly some pretty major challenges in his life (depression, losing his house and belongings in a fire.  You know, THAT kind of major).  Then he says “I wouldn’t be where I am today without the following:”, listing a number of people, including me.

I like to read and re-read blogs on leadership.  They are helpful reminders on what I need to keep doing (or not doing) and where there are opportunities for personal growth.  Although expressed from different perspectives, the articles often cover the same attributes or competencies that we rightfully expect from good leaders.
