Volunteer Appreciation Week - Meet Roshelle Pavlin

This is the second in our series of National Volunteer Week blogs- each profile written by SHRM’s Field Services Directors.  Today’s piece profiles Roshelle Pavlin and is authored by Diana Gould.  Follow @SHRM all this week for recognition of our amazing volunteers with the #NVW16 and #SHRMLead hashtags.

What words come to mind for those of you who know and have worked with Roshelle Pavlin, 2016 Washington State Council Director?  Fun, lively, a strategist, a doer, a planner, a “get-er done” type of person.

Roshelle has been a long-term SHRM member and a dedicated long-time volunteer (some of which I have highlighted below).  I have had the pleasure of working with Roshelle in a variety of SHRM volunteer leader roles with Washington State over the last few years and it has been a true delight.

So a little about Roshelle’s day job: She is the Human Resources (HR) Director at Dade Moeller & Associates, Inc. at its headquarters in Richland, WA, where she leads the corporate HR department to effectively support the company’s business and organizational goals in addition to ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal HR requirements.

Roshelle is passionate about education (she is a former teacher) and believes in certification in your chosen profession. She has had an HR Certification since 2002 and most recently obtained her Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) certification in 2014.  She has also been a Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) certified practitioner since 2012.

Roshelle served in several positions on the board of the Professionals in Human Resources Association (PIHRA) Coachella Valley, the Maryland SHRM State Council, and most recently has served the Washington State Council as its Diversity Co-Director, Social Media Manager, Communications Director, Director Elect, and now 2016 Director.  During her time with WSHRC, Roshelle developed processes to support WA chapters by providing easier access to information such as a speaker database.

In her spare time, Roshelle loves to travel, SCUBA dive, and ski, but can often be found in her role as Director of Special Projects for Daven Lore Winery at wine tasting events around Washington State.  She has also been recognized by the American Red Cross Blood Services – Pacific Northwest Region as an outstanding blood drive coordinator.  So you can see that volunteering is in her blood (pun intended) and that is why I wanted to have you have a chance to get to know the volunteer “Roshelle Pavlin”.
