When I think about Renee Irby, the first words that come to mind are energized, dedicated, conscientious, motivated and passionate.
Renee Irby, SHRM-CP, PHR joined SHRM in March 2013. She immediately got involved serving as a committee volunteer with her local SHRM chapter, Northwest Louisiana SHRM (NWLA SHRM), in Shreveport. She’s now the President-Elect for her chapter.
Current NWLA SHRM Chapter President, Brooke Farmer, SHRM-CP, PHR, told me that “Without Renee, I truly believe our Chapter and its events would not be as successful as they are. Renee is an incredible asset to our Chapter, SHRM, and the HR Profession. She is a perfect example of what all Volunteer Leaders should aspire to be like. “
Renee truly is a passionate volunteer – she’s been volunteering for over nineteen (19) years. She’s served on the Board of Directors for Executive Women International. She has also volunteered her time to the Shreveport Tourist Bureau, and the Hotel Lodging Association. One of her volunteer efforts that she is most passionate about is putting together toiletry packets for the homeless shelters, which she encourages her coworkers to participate in as well.
I recently had the opportunity to visit with Renee; and, I asked her what motivates her. She said she has a need to “push for knowledge” and that she “wants to be on cutting edge of the HR profession.” But, most importantly, she has a compelling need and “desire to give back to the younger generation of women coming up in the HR profession” as a mentor.
In her spare time, when she’s not at work, at DeBoles Nutritional Foods Inc., or volunteering for SHRM, Renee enjoys hobbies, including repurposing real estate sale finds, and collecting artwork from Louisiana artists.
Renee and her husband have been married for sixteen (16) years; and, they are expecting their first child, due on August 1st. It’s a busy and exciting time in Renee’s life. I feel privileged to have the opportunity to work with Renee; and, we are fortunate that she contributes her time and talent to support SHRM and give back to the HR profession.
