Best practices for attracting, hiring and retaining veterans is the focus of the SHRM Foundation’s new educational program developed for HR professionals, hiring managers and front-line supervisors. The multifaceted Veterans at Work Certificate program, which is now officially open and always free to all HR professionals, is part of the SHRM Foundation’s commitment to building more inclusive workplaces. SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP credential-holders can earn ten professional development credits (PDCs) toward recertification!
The program officially launched on November 14th at SHRM’s Volunteer Leadership Summit. Inclusion Captains were invited to the event for a first look at the program and learned about the value that experienced veterans bring to the civilian workplace, as well as how to engage and integrate these talented professionals into one’s organization. The program’s main learning segment focuses on The Recruitment, Hiring, Retention & Engagement of Military Veterans guidebook, that was showcased at this event, which makes the business case for hiring veteran candidates.
To complete the Veterans at Work Certificate program participants are asked to commit 10 hours and complete several program components, including content review, online training, brief quizzes, and two short surveys. To register or learn more, please visit shrmfoundation.org/veteransatwork
