#SHRM22 Vendor Spotlight: Paylocity

I was delighted to be able to speak with Shari Simpson, SHRM-SCP, Paylocity HR Program Manager and host of "PCTY Talks" Podcast about Paylocity's plans to exhibit at #SHRM22.

Here is our conversation:

Mary: Congratulations on your awards: "Top 50 HR Products", "Top 200 CEO's", "Best Lead Companies" - among others. Can you tell us a little bit about Paylocity? Who can most benefit from your services? Is there a certain company profile that is ideal?

Shari: Thanks! More and more people are learning about us. Paylocity is a 25-year-old HR and Payroll software company that has grown from just a few employees to more than 5,000. We like to say we "drink our own wine" which means we use our product every single day. And with 5,000 employees spread out across the country, you better believe we put our software through every test imaginable to make sure it's good enough for our clients.

We take great pride in delivering what we consider to be the most complete engagement platform for the modern workforce. We deliver the full capabilities to run a healthy business and get employees excited to use the platform.

Our foundation is a single system of record that we built from the ground up to power every part of the employee lifecycle from recruit to alumni. Data flows through every step to help HR stay out of manual spreadsheets once and for all. This is combined with consumer-like employee experiences across the platform such as using video to communicate in a more personal way, connecting with coworkers using recognition, and working together better with features like chat, file sharing, and discussion groups. We also help employees to be heard through surveys or comments on announcements and we promote flexibility and financial wellness with features like On Demand Pay—all available on mobile devices like the apps employees are already using.

We have enterprise, mid-sized and smaller clients who say we’ve done the impossible–they see viral employee adoption and usage without constant reminders from HR. And getting more employees into Paylocity helps HR to achieve its goals, which are tied to overall business success.

Mary: What is something special you're working on right now?

Shari: We just introduced a refresh of Community, our online social collaboration hub. Community is an integrated part of the Paylocity platform that streamlines communication, strengthens collaboration, and fosters a culture of engagement not possible through traditional email, antiquated intranets, or other broad communication channels. Many clients use Community to replace communication channels that either don’t reach all employees or are ignored. It quickly becomes the single source for all company updates, connecting employees across locations, even those who are deskless or completely remote.

As part of our effort to embed experiences throughout the platform that help employees feel connected to their work—even employees who are hybrid, remote, on-the-go, or don’t have computers or company email, Paylocity will be showing:

  • New Connection tools: Automatically created team groups for supervisors and their direct reports, where users are added as they join/leave/move within the organization. Icebreaker prompts introduce new team members to their colleagues when they join the group to encourage immediate conversation and connection with no work needed by the admin or supervisor
  • New Collaboration tools: Create, edit, collaborate on, and share files (with 3 GB of file storage)
  •  New Communication tools: Chat Functionality for 1:1 and 1: many chat

The expanded Community builds on existing employee experiences throughout the platform like native video capabilities (across announcements, recruiting, journaling, performance reviews, and more), On Demand Payment, and the ability for employees to create their own training content in LMS. All of this functionality is available via the Paylocity mobile app.

Mary: Can you tell me, what sets Paylocity apart from other HR Payroll Tech companies / HRIS providers?

Shari:  Traditional HR and payroll vendors will tell you that getting HR out of time-consuming processes is as simple as automating manual tasks, processes, and reporting via an end-to-end, hire-to-retire platform. Yet many businesses using "modern" systems are still struggling. Paylocity’s approach is fundamentally different: we actually deliver value to end-user employees — and that’s the key to achieving the automation that HR is seeking.

Mary: What are you most looking forward to at SHRM22 in New Orleans this year?

Shari: This show is attended by the “people who look after the people”-  our clients care for millions of employees. We’ve been a SHRM exhibitor since long before the pandemic, and the thing we look forward to is seeing some of our longstanding clients and meeting future clients to celebrate their successes and share their challenges. That’s what keeps us grounded and inspires us to keep iterating to help HR teams make better workplaces.

And I’m personally excited about helping HR professionals level up with new content before, during, and after SHRM for our “PCTY Talks” podcast, including interviews recorded on the show floor!
