#SHRM19: Better Workplaces Start With YOU

Change happens one person at a time; building better workplaces starts with YOU.

This summer I will be returning to the blogger team for the 2019 SHRM Annual Conference & Exposition (#SHRM19) in Las Vegas. I’m excited about the opportunity to work with friends, colleagues, and peers in telling the story of the world’s largest HR conference, comprised of nearly 200 concurrent sessions, covering the most important topics in the field of Human Resources:

  • Workplace Strategy
  • Technology
  • Business Acumen & Metrics
  • Compliance
  • Global HR
  • Leadership
  • Communication
  • Talent
  • Compensation & Benefits

It’s an incredible opportunity, and it’s one that I don’t take lightly.

We have important work to do.

Now more than ever, people want, no, NEED, the opportunity to live and work to their full potential. Now more than ever, people need to have the promise of meaningful work fulfilled. Now more than ever, WE need to be the creators of such opportunities every day, for everyone.

#SHRM19 will be my eighth consecutive SHRM Annual Conference, and every single conference has opened doors to me that I would never have imagined. You will have the same experience, learning from amazing speakers, connecting with peers from around the world, and building a network of professionals that will vastly improve your ability to do what matters most.

And that’s precisely why the work of building better workplaces has to start with YOU.

HR needs people like you, with the knowledge, skills and experience to take the lessons learned from conferences like #SHRM19 into the workplace. HR needs people with the courage to move forward, even when it feels like everything is moving backwards, to push through in the face of adversity, to do the hard work of rehumanizing the workplace, to keep what’s working, to build on what has potential, and to fix what needs fixing.

But you don’t have to do it alone.

You will be joined at #SHRM19 by 20,000 colleagues, peers, and potential friends, all of whom will be inspired to do their part. And when we’re all pushing towards a world of work that works for everyone, anything is possible.

I look forward to making the most of this opportunity with you this summer.
