It's super early to be discussing #SHRM18, it makes the suspense even harder! But, when you've been chosen, along with 60 other AMAZING #HR Bloggers, tweeters, storytellers, and professionals, you just can't keep quiet!
#SHRM18 will be in Chicago this year and I am so excited to be visiting the city for my very first time!!! I know we will be busy with the entire conference, but I'm hoping to carve out some time to check out a few museums, shopping, great food places, historical locations, and so much more.
If you've been following my HRJazzy blog, you know I started this journey because of SHRM17 last year. That was my first time attending a SHRM National Conference and I didn't know what to expect. I searched for articles for the "First Timers" and while I did find a little information, I didn't find enough for me. This year, for #SHRM18, I want to be that blog for you! While we'll all be writing great content (seriously, check out the list of HR pros on the SHRM18 Blog Squad) I don't want to forget what it's like for a first timer professional or student walking through the doors of the SHRM National Conference.
Over the next months, I'll be talking about getting your schedule together, how to network and meet the people you've always wanted to (without being creepy), the dreaded packing storm, how to support the vendors but not leave with too much swag, and the most important rule that I've seen ... Never Bring A Rolling Suitcase!
I'm super excited and honored to be chosen as a member of the SHRM18 Blog Squad. Last year when I found out what and who the SHRMBloggers were, I instantly wanted to be a part of the group. After my first session on Sunday, I walked into the blogger lounge to try and meet up with Jessica Miller-Merrell (@JMillerMerrell), but had just missed her and instead, I was greeted by Mary Kaylor (@SHRMKaylor). She is super welcoming and warming, I can't wait to catch up with her this year. I just remember the Bloggers Lounge being a room of energy and knowledge, I was speaking with Kristina Minyard and meeting Mary Faulkner when Andrew Morton started to speak to the bloggers and felt like I should instantly leave the room! Nervous me had taken over. He gave a great speech of thanks and information for the bloggers and I knew, I had to find a way to be part of the team for SHRM18!
Fast forward a couple of hush-hush emails, not getting on Twitter and telling people why I was bursting with excitement, running to my bosses office and asking her for help with financing the trip, my family and boyfriend thinking I'm crazy, I can finally shout it all over!
Being a SHRM18Blogger will be the experience of a lifetime and I hope to see you in Chicago!
