#SHRM17 = Sleep Deprivation

I am home from work. I schlepped the suitcase up from the basement. It is GO TIME. The tweet stream was rife with things like T-minus… until #SHRM17 or  #HRChristmas, these folks are #Allin  for #NOLA. I am stoked to go too!  With a 6:05 a.m. departure in the morning, I will be up well before the crack of dawn.  Will I rest when I get to New Orleans?  Are you crazy? I am headed to the hotel to  shuck the bags and immediately over to the convention center baby! Then I am gonna get my “papers” and the madness begins!

Here is a fact for the SHRM Annual Conference, if you are going to get the most out of the conference, you must plan on being SLEEP DEPRAIVED for four days!  Late night drinks and early morning sessions that is how many of the attendee roll. If you haven’t tried this you should.  My 20 something son once told me, “Meh you can sleep when you’re dead.”

The evening events with the food, the conversation, the drinks all build those relationship and that why so many of are so damned stoked to show up and hang out with old friends and meet new ones. And then what… we get to go to training on the FSLA, FMLA the EEOC. What more could an #HR Geek want?

I am going to keep this short, because I have a lot to do in the next 12 hours, but if you are social media curious drop by the bloggers lounge and visit with some of us. We are real people doing real HR stuff and simply love to engage.  See you tomorrow!
