We Know Next is finding and interviewing HR Motivators at the SHRM 2014 Annual Conference & Exposition. Below is a Q&A with HR professional Bobbie Wilson.
Q. What inspires you as an HR professional?
I like bringing out the good in people, helping them to achieve more or understand more. In the end I'm helping to enrich peoples' lives through their work.
Q. What social media platform do you use most for your job and why?
I mainly use Twitter as a custom news feed. It helps me to be aware of trends in the industry, breaking information, and inspiration. I like that it helps me to be excited about and engaged in the profession.
Q. What qualities do you think are most important for strong leadership?
The key is to be confident in your decisions. Trust your own judgment. A few other important pieces: know when to ask for help, have situational awareness of what is going on around you, be emotionally intelligent, and trust your people.
Q. What advice would you give to people who would like to work in the HR profession?
You won't do what you love at first. Just be ready for that. Give it a few years to get on the right path, and then seize the opportunity when it arises.
