SHRM Staff Recommendations for #SHRM16 in DC – Part 6

Cornelia Springer, Director of Certification Services at SHRM, is excited to welcome #SHRM16 attendees to Washington DC! If this is your first time in DC and don’t know where to start exploring, she is happy to point you in the direction of what she loves most about the place she calls home.

There are lots of memorials and monuments to see when visiting Washington DC, but one of the most impressive and poignant memorials to Cornelia is the Vietnam Memorial. The three separate parts to the memorial include the Three Soldiers statue, the Vietnam Women’s Memorial, and the most popular, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall, which contains more than 58,000 names. You can travel there via Metro (Foggy Bottom or Federal Triangle stops on the Orange, Blue, and Silver lines), the DC Circulator’s National Mall Route, or Metrobus (routes 32, 34, and 36).

On a lighter note, enjoy a nice seafood or steak dinner at one of the most historic restaurants in DC, Occidental Grill in the Willard Hotel. Cornelia enjoys this restaurant because it has so much history, with pictures of many presidents and famous Washingtonians dating all the way back to 1906!

If you have not yet registered for #SHRM16, don’t miss out and register today at annual.shrm.org!
