That huge shiny bean-shaped sculpture in Millennium Park, the Chicago Skydeck, and Garrett’s popcorn are just a few of the reasons I am so excited about the 2018 SHRM Annual Conference & Exposition (#SHRM18). What’s even better? The 17th World Federation of People Management Associations (WFPMA) World Congress that will be taking place alongside our Annual Conference this year.
The World Congress is a biennial gathering of the member associations of the WFPMA. Founded in 1976, WFPMA was created to aid the development and improvement of HR professionals all over the world, with a global network of more than 90 HR associations throughout the globe and representing over 600,000 HR professionals.
HR leaders from all over the world will gather in Chicago this year to share ideas and experiences that will contribute to make an impact and elevate the HR profession. Great HR starts with great leadership, and I am so proud that SHRM will have such a strong influence in these conversations as the host for the WFPMA World Congress.
This year also marks a historic moment as WFPMA will be naming its first female President, Mrs. Leyla Nascimento of Brazil, since its founding in 1976. What’s more? We will have simultaneous interpretation in four languages for the first time, using an application that our international attendees can download on their electronic devices. Can we say innovative? (Yes, Mr. Taylor. We are taking monumental steps here!). These are just a few of the many reasons why I am excited for this year’s conference and why we should all be proud to elevate the HR profession and move Together Forward.
See you in Chicago!
