Time and again I’m reminded of how invaluable the more than 6,000 SHRM Volunteer Leaders are to both our organization, and our HR profession! But, perhaps no time is this commitment and passion more evident than during our annual Volunteer Leaders’ Summit held each November here in Washington, DC.
SHRM is honored to host more than 850 of our volunteer leaders this Thursday the 17th of November, from 51 State and Pacific Councils, our more than 560 professional chapters across the country, and international leaders from across the world- including leaders from Kuwait, the Cayman Islands, Ghana an Israel. We will come together for three amazing days of programming that will both inspire and ignite all of us for another year in the service of our HR profession! Over the years we’ve added amazing programing to our Volunteer Leaders’ Summit and 2016’s summit is no exception.
Our CEO Hank Jackson will kick things off with our annual State of the Society, and our volunteer leaders will participate in breakout sessions in support of all they do. This year we are also excited to have Keynote speakers Lafern Batie and Paralympian Mallory Weggemann. For more on all of the programing click here: https://conferences.shrm.org/VLS. And, this year in particular we want to share all of the excitement with you- and have your voice join in the conversation! Please follow the #SHRMVLS hashtag on Twitter and SHRM’s Facebook page for livestreaming of portions of this year’s VLS including the 2016 Pinnacle Awards on Friday the 18th of November.
SHRM’s volunteer leaders set the tone for our more than 285,000 members, and without their commitment to our organization we’d be unable to lead this great HR profession of ours. Join us in honoring our volunteer leaders and if you’re one of the thousands of SHRM volunteer leaders we’d love to hear from you and thanks for all your do!
Sincerely,
Elissa O’Brien, SHRM-SCP
