On June 18, more than 15,000 people will be at the SHRM 2017 Annual Conference & Exposition, including attendees, exhibitors and members of the press. They will converge on the New Orleans Ernest E. Morial Convention Center for four days of learning, sharing and networking.
In his blog post Go ‘All In’ at #SHRM17, SHRM President and CEO Henry G. “Hank” Jackson asks, “When it comes to your life and work, what are you ‘all in’ for?” That is, what are your goals?

The #SHRM17 conference is a “marketplace” jam-packed with sessions and solutions for every issue that HR is facing in the new world of work. Jackson says it’s “where our profession will come together as one to continue the transformation to competency-based learning. It is where we will renew our passion to serve our people and lead our organizations.”
#SHRM17 Blog Squad member Paul Hebert understands the importance of being “all in.” He makes an important point about understanding your goals for conference attendance in his blog post My #SHRM17 To-Do List. Hebert says he has three main goals and that one is to find a way to look inside his organization to find the hidden talent. Hebert says that “Too often we overlook the genius inside our companies. I want to find a better way to identify that genius. Is it a tech solution? Is it a training solution? I don’t know. I’ll be scouting for positive deviants in my SHRM17 tradeshow walkabouts.”
And while attendees will have varying goals, Hebert agrees that the content and the connections are what brings it all together. Hebert says he has “found this conference to always have a positive payoff—increasing my knowledge and increasing my network.”
