Goals! #SHRM18 #BlogSquad

When I first started this blog, one of my “pie in the sky” goals was to be invited to be a part of the 2018 SHRM Annual Conference & Exposition blog squad. I didn’t know how people are chosen for the squad, but I put it out on Twitter during #SHRM17. The universe must have heard me, because I now get to #ExpandMyWorld and share that with others at #SHRM18 as I have been invited to be a part of the #SHRM18 #BlogSquad!

Many of the bloggers are people I’ve followed since I discovered the writers for the SHRM conference. I have to admit there was a bit of fan-girling going on when Mary Kaylor first invited me to be a part of the #SHRM18 team. Sure, I got the opportunity to meet some of them before at #SHRM17 at the #Nextchat gathering, but it’s a bit different to think about sitting next to them, talking about who is writing what, sharing the bacon. Yeah, bacon comes up a lot when talking about the bloggers lounge …

As part of my commitment to this team, I’ll interview & write about a couple of SHRM presenters and even a vendor to get people excited about #SHRM18. As usual, I’ll participate in #Nextchat conversations around #SHRM18. And Jon & I have an #HRSocialHour chat planned around #SHRM18, though with both of us being able to attend, look for extras for the #HRSocialHour network!! I want to be sure to give back to those who have helped make #HRSocialHour so successful. We will also be supporting the #NotatSHRM18 group and I hope to work with Workology as Jessica did a fan-freaking-tastic job last year. And let’s be honest, #NotatSHRM17 led directly to the #HRSocialHour

I’m excited to learn from these professionals and to also bring this idea to the South Dakota SHRM conference. The blog squad is a great way to generate excitement around the event and have a team of people who are manning and sharing your message on social media. I’m really looking forward to seeing where we can take the squad in South Dakota. I’m hoping we’ll start with inviting one person from each chapter and maybe it will grow larger! So, while you are following #SHRM18, be sure to also follow #SoDakSHRM18.
