Flexible Workplaces Appeal to Millennials

Apply for the When Work Works Award and Highlight Your Workflex Benefits!

Millennials are now the largest generation in the U.S. labor force, according to a Pew Research Center analysis of 2017 U.S. Census data. Fifty-six million people ages 21-36 are working or looking for work. They grew up with the Internet and cut their teeth on technology which makes it difficult for organizations to attract, retain and develop this generation of multitaskers with limited attention.

Workflex is important to Millennials and Millennial-minded employees. Thirty-two percent of Millennials ranked more paid time-off, flexible work arrangements, career advancement, and options to purchase a wider variety of benefits as top priorities.

HR professionals looking to recruit Millennials in the workforce must understand their lifestyles and what they value in the workplace. Implementing robust workflex practices that improve work-life balance and cultivate career growth is essential to appeal to this demographic.

If your organization seeks to tap into this large talent pool, then apply for the 2018 When Work Works (WWW) Award  and promote your best workflex practices to successfully attract this generation of workers. Many recent winners of the WWW award have effectively instigated workflex policies valued by Millennials. How does your organization’s workflex measure up?

Past WWW award winners like Architecture Technology Corporation in Eden Prairie, MN, Spokane-based Career Path Services, and Clarity Voice in Southfield, MI, offer compressed work weeks, flexible split schedules, floating holidays, cutting-edge technology, facetime with management and professional development opportunities. Morris Financial Concepts Inc. based in Mount Pleasant, SC, employs mostly Millennials who embrace the idea behind taking sabbaticals which are required of all of their employees.
