Diversity Stride 2018

This will be my last blog before SHRM18.  I wanted to share my experience with Diversity Stride 2018:

The Garden State Council SHRM (GSC-SHRM) was a pacesetter sponsor for the Diversity Stride Walk 2018 that was facilitated by the American Conference on Diversity (ACOD).  I was the Team Captain for GSC-SHRM.  We had a strong turnout and are looking forward to next year.

American Conference on Diversity has facilitated the Diversity Walk for many years.  As ACOD indicates, hundreds of people celebrate the tri-state area’s annual 5k walk, located in Liberty State Park, Jersey City.  Before the walk, those in attendance were entertained by dancers, musicians, and much more.  Meanwhile, children (and even some adults) enjoyed face painting and other fun activities.

The Diversity Stride Walk proceeds benefit the ACOD’s youth programs.  The programs prepare the next generation to lead in their schools, workplaces, and communities.

As ACOD indicates, the event is ideal for social justice advocates, change agents, students, community leaders, employee business groups, youth-based organizations, families, cultural groups, friends and team walkers.  Those in attendance enjoyed a leisurely 5k walk along the Hudson River and a great view of New York City.  Community organizations and corporations showed their support with the community and how they are champions for diversity and inclusion.

I would like to thank the following GSC-SHRM participants for walking for such a good cause: Judy Elliott-Pugh (Diversity & Inclusion Co – Director, GCS-SHRM), Charles (Chuck) Privitera, along with his wife & son, Karen Hess, Kristina Cucci, Mari Marques-Thomas and her family, and Erika Mercedes, along with her family.

I want to end by stating that it has been a pleasure blogging for SHRM.  As indicated, this will be my last blog before SHRM18.  I want to thank the following for all of their support: SHRM, Industrial U.I. Services, & the Garden State Council – SHRM, as well as my Husband, Vincent and my family & friends.

I am looking forward to attending SHRM18 in Chicago as a SHRM18Blogger and I look forward to blogging about the Conference.
