Be the Spark

Last month, we celebrated the Thanksgiving Holiday in the USA. Somehow, the fourth Thursday in November reminds us to pause and reflect on the goodness and gifts we have in our lives.

On the lone Wednesday before that simple Thursday, we had some time to share thoughts with HR professionals about the place for gratitude at work. Within #Nextchat, we explored how to cultivate and celebrate a culture of appreciation at work.

Many ideas and traditions were shared. A common theme was a sincere thank you and an appreciation and acknowledgment of good work. Gifts need not to be attached. Some of the most memorable thank you's have been kept. The most treasured were penned on a note card and have reserved real estate in a drawer with other memories. Here is the link to SHRM's #Nextchat.

It just takes a spark.

At times our own light goes out and

is rekindled by a spark from another person.

Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude

of those who have lighted the flame within us.

--Albert Schweitzer
