A #SHRM19 Interview with Paycor

This is a 2019 SHRM Annual Conference and Exposition (#SHRM19) interview is with Paycor, a provider of many HR products and services. Below is a quick Q&A with Kate Ryan.

Who is Paycor!? Tell us everything, just as you would someone approaching your booth and asking you this question at #SHRM19 in Las Vegas.

Paycor helps business leaders recruit, manage, develop, pay, train and retain their employees by providing the best customer experience, the right HCM products, responsive service and ongoing thought leadership and expertise.

Let us in on the magic. What’s the hiring process like at Paycor? How do you utilize your own tech and processes to ensure you’re hiring and keeping the best talent?

We've actually studied over 2,700 organizations to understand what best in class recruiting teams do differently. We found that those organizations focus on the experience for every persona in the process: from the candidate experience to the hiring manager experience, you need to make it easy for everyone involved. We use technology to ensure candidates are able to easily apply online and be communicated with on their own terms. Our hiring managers can move people through the process with a single email. Your technology should make it really easy for every person in the process. Then, as an organization, we follow key recruiting metrics and try to find ways to improve them. Metrics like average time to fill, employee referral rate and candidate pipeline are metrics that matter most.

Paycor has won “best place to work” on multiple occasions. What has contributed to this success? What’s your favorite part about working at Paycor?

Culture is an incredibly important part of who we are, and we reinforce our guiding principles around everything we do. We are consistently building towards a culture that believes in giving back, helping others and having fun along the way. As an HR team, that means putting in place programs to promote these key values internally and externally. It also means ensuring we include these core values in our hiring profiles and in the way think about the leaders inside of our business. Culture isn't a one-time initiatives. It's an evergreen initiative that requires constant reinforcement.

With that being said, my favorite part about working at Paycor is the people I'm surrounded with on a day-to-day basis. I get to work with some of the most inspiring folks around, and it's been great to experience the learnings, successes, and 'fun along the way' with such a great organization of individuals.

What are the biggest challenges companies face when outsourcing HR services? How do they overcome those challenges?

The HR space is becoming really oversaturated with different offerings and solutions. We find that the most important part of outsourcing HR services is really understanding the business problem and key objectives the HR team is trying to solve. There are so many options and solutions available - doing a thorough review of success metrics and having a partner who can help get you there through technology and expertise is critical.

In particular, having real expertise to help HR teams drive meaningful results is something that our HR Center of Excellence research shows is needed in the market. At Paycor, not only do we offer valuable HR technology, but we try to deliver best in class data, research, and findings to our customers that can help them empower the individuals within their organizations, as well as develop their HR teams to achieve HR excellence.

What do you wish more HR professionals and recruiters knew about the services you provide?

Our research shows that displaying your work through benchmarking and sharing metrics is critical for HR Professionals and Recruiters. Metrics like turnover, time-to-fill, referral rate and more are important to measure and show C-Suite executives paths to  improvement. Our software can help provide the data HR Professionals need and the technology to improve what they are doing today. We've researched over 2,700 HR teams to help us get to some of these critical findings.

For anyone who won’t be able to make it to the Paycor booth in Las Vegas, what do you want them to know?
