A #SHRM19 Interview with FurstPerson

Who is FurstPerson!? Tell us everything, just as you would someone approaching your booth and asking you this question at #SHRM19 in Las Vegas.

FurstPerson is the market leader in pre and post-hire talent assessments, and helps the world’s best brands identify top talent. We help companies improve job performance and reduce employee turnover, and leverage our proprietary analytics engine to drive results month-over-month.

What are the biggest challenges companies face when looking for new talent? How do they overcome those challenges?

Often times, organizations rely solely on interviews and resumes to make a hiring decision. While there is a benefit in getting to know your job applicants, there are very specific skills, traits and abilities that can’t be measured in an interview. That’s where we come in! We work closely with our customers to understand their organizational culture, their KPIs, and their challenges. This process of discovery allows us to customize our approach and align candidates with the organization’s specific wants and needs.

What do you wish more HR professionals and recruiters knew about pre-hire talent selection?

Many HR professionals believe that they are doing “okay” when it comes to hiring and fail to calculate just how much employee turnover and lost-production costs their organization annually. Most HR professionals have never really calculated their attrition rates or cost of attrition, and have little information about how much turnover costs them. How do you know how much you’ll save if you have no idea how much turnover costs?

Pre-hire assessments can make a world of difference in a company’s bottom line. We routinely reduce our customer’s employee turnover between 20 and 40 percent, and at an average cost of $4,500-6,500 per termed employee, you can see how the savings adds up!

How important is correct job placement in employee retention?

Job fit is one of the most critical factors when it comes to retaining any employee, and job happiness is directly correlated to performance. We help our customers identify which candidates will thrive in their environment- which yields higher performance and longer tenure.
