This 2019 SHRM Annual Conference and Exposition (#SHRM19) interview is with eLearning Brothers, a company specializing in custom-designed eLearning. This quick Q&A was with Todd Cummings, director of custom development.
Who is eLearning Brothers!? Tell us everything, just as you would someone approaching your booth and asking you this question at #SHRM19 in Las Vegas.
eLearning Brothers is a company made up of incredibly passionate people. What are we passionate about? Transforming the eLearning industry by providing the world’s largest library of templates, cutout people, stock assets, and more. It’s all part of our mission to help people become eLearning rockstars. We’ve become incredibly well known for our templates and assets, but we didn’t want to stop there. The world needed more eLearning awesomeness. So we started offering custom eLearning development in addition to pre-built courses. Since the creation of our custom solutions team six years ago, we’ve won more than 30 industry awards for our client work. We also offer an extensive customizable courseware library of training modules on topics like management, interpersonal skills, sales, and safety training. When companies purchase our Customizable Courseware, they get all the source files for classroom and online training so they can edit and brand the content to fit their organization’s needs. There’s a high demand for products like ours, and because of it, our company is constantly growing. We’ve been listed on the Inc. 5000 list for the past five years and we just recently began hosting our own annual learning technology conference.
Let us in on the magic. We noticed you won Best of State in Utah for management and employee training… so what’s the eLearning process like at your company? How do you utilize your own tech and processes to ensure success with this?
Our mission of helping people become eLearning rockstars also applies to our internal employee development philosophy. We want to work with rockstars! We used our Customizable Courseware sales training product to train our own sales team. If a company doesn’t use their own product, you know it’s not a good sign. We also use our own templates and stock assets when producing our free webinars for eLearning professionals. Our product team is constantly in touch with eLearning tool developers about product updates and learning best practices in development so we can teach those to our customers. Because how can we be leaders in the eLearning space if we don’t stay one step ahead of the game ourselves?
What are the biggest challenges companies face when tackling eLearning? How do they overcome those challenges?
Every company has different needs and challenges to overcome, but one common theme is the fight for learner engagement. It is easy to make a PowerPoint presentation available on your company network or shared drive and call that eLearning. But that’s not engaging to learners. Learning how to create truly interactive and engaging eLearning requires more planning and design time upfront but companies that put in that time experience a much higher return on investment of their training programs. Taking advantage of a template library like ours, which offers pre-built interactions and quizzes, can be a hugely timesaving shortcut. Hiring a custom development studio that specializes in interactive and immersive training can also be a fantastic way to get engaging training for your organization.
What do you wish more HR professionals and recruiters knew about eLearning?
