#SHRM18 was my first national SHRM conference, and I cannot thank Mary Kaylor and SHRM enough for making attending possible for me! I had a wonderful time – the blogger lounge, seating area for the keynotes, food (& coffee <3), sessions, book store and expo floor were all top-notch. It exceeded my expectations to see everything so well done and all the details taken care of.
I definitely needed a few days to unwind afterwards and digest everything I learned. I wanted to share all of the sessions I was able to attend – if anyone has any questions on what they were about, please let me know! I hope to have an upcoming blog post on each of them!

After hearing Wendy Dailey talk so much about how she was enjoying the smart stage, I decided to check it out on Tuesday afternoon. I absolutely loved it and am so glad I went instead of attending one longer session that I wasn’t completely sold on.

I learned so much from all of the speakers I got to see – there was at least a nugget in each of them that got me to write it down and think differently. I am so grateful for that.
I also can’t say enough about the connection moments and the power of Twitter! I was sitting in Amy Glass’s session tweeting away, and see Brad Galin and Jenn Blakey also tweeting about the session. Through Twitter – we planned a meet up afterwards for some selfie taking. This kind of thing happened with so many others at other sessions. There were some folks I was lucky enough to run into on the expo floor who I otherwise probably wouldn’t have seen! I was so thankful to see them even if only for a few minutes and to get our selfie! Every one I met in person, it was like we were friends for years. We shared a hug and a smile. You all know who you are – you made my conference experience amazing! Thank you for your friendship. Just click my “media” section on Twitter to see all the selfie taking! I heard countless people say that meeting their online HR friends in real life was the main highlight of the conference and I could not agree more.
I was so excited to meet Nancie Ruder, who I had interviewed for a pre-conference blog post. I woke up around 4 AM Tuesday morning and shared the blog post again and the information on her session. When I arrived to the room around 6:50, Nancie recognized me AND said she woke up to my tweet about her session which made her even more excited for it. This made my day. I got a selfie in with her too (:
I am so thankful for all of my fellow #SHRM18Bloggers who I was fortunate enough to meet and talk with in the blogger lounge. I don’t think I can find words to describe how much you all mean to me and how much I have learned from our conversations and from your sharing of knowledge on social media. And… you all are just so much FUN!! The fun sure didn’t end at the conference center and I enjoyed all the breakfasts, dinners, drinks and meet-ups. Thank you for including me
Doing this conference alone would have been so lonely. Thank you to all of my friends I met in person for welcoming me with open arms and sharing part of your experience with me. I can’t wait to see you all at #SHRM19 in Vegas – but hopefully sooner!
