After Thanksgiving, it’s Black Friday. Then comes, Cyber Monday.
And then it’s #GivingTuesday!
#GivingTuesday is the global day of giving that brings ordinary people together to make extraordinary things possible.
Each dollar donated on #GivingTuesday is a gift to make the world a better place. It is an opportunity to be part of something larger by making a small gift to a charity that makes the world a better place.
The SHRM Foundation is one of those important causes. For the past 50 years, the SHRM Foundation has empowered HR professionals and students and has awarded thousands of scholarships.
The SHRM Foundation awards scholarships to people like you…
…people who have worked in HR for years but need that extra vote of confidence (and financial help) to take on certification or a degree.
…people who are new to the profession and having trouble finding professional development opportunities in their workplace.
…people who have lacked support for some time but who deserve the chance to challenge themselves and prove to themselves they can succeed.
One of our scholarship recipients, Natasha, told me she saw a billboard one day that said, “when life gets in the way” and thought that’s me. She took a chance and won a scholarship. Each dollar we raise goes directly to awarding scholarships for people like Natasha and to creating inclusive workplace solutions for issues you care about. We’re sharing stories of scholarship winners and supporters each Tuesday through December on the SHRM Blog and via #TransformTues.
We’re just one of many exceptional charities asking for your help on #GivingTuesday and that is part of the fun of the day — seeing the extraordinary things that are possible when we all give a little.
Two ways to get involved on #GivingTuesday:
- Making a donation, of any amount, to the SHRM Foundation at shrmfoundation.org/donate
- Sharing your personal or professional transformation moment on Twitter or Facebook using #TransformTues
We’ll retweet or share your moments throughout the day, and if we retweet or share your moment we’ll send you a signed copy of a book from a former SHRM Annual Conference & Exposition keynoter!
On behalf of the 227 people who will receive a scholarship from the SHRM Foundation in 2016 because of gifts received, THANK YOU for your support.
