3 Things I’m Looking Forward to at the SHRM Talent Management Conference #SHRMTalent

In less than a week, I’ll be immersed with several hundred of my human resources & talent colleagues at the 2017 SHRM Talent Management Conference and Expo, here in my home city of Chicago.  I’m excited about the opportunity to attend, not only because it’s local and an easy trip to get there!  But, because this will be my first ever SHRM conference I’ll be attending.  That said, here’s 3 things I’m most looking forward to.

  1. Learning about the development and importance of digital in the workplace.

From emerging technologies in ATS and HRIS systems, to using data science for decision making and hiring criteria.  Digital and data are here to stay.  It’s good to see HR embracing it and using it to improve how we work.

2.    Hearing the top trends for 2017.

I’m constantly reading different articles, blogs and newspapers keeping up with the latest in recruitment and HR.  It’s vastly different hearing it during discussions and presentations live from industry leaders.  Even if you’ve heard it all, you’ll ALWAYS at least walk away with one big wow nugget of information.  With a great speaker lineup, I’m sure I’ll have a nice arsenal of information to walk away with.

3.    Exploring and chatting with exhibitors.

We all know the big names out there.  What I love about attending expos, is talking to all the different exhibitors and see who the movers and shakers are in the industry.  Who are the catalyst who are thinking outside the box, who are the movers & shakers and who to keep an eye out for in the future.

Of course, a big thing I am looking forward to which figured is a given so didn’t put on my list is networking!  Been in HR for over 10 years, and have been participating in the weekly SHRM Twitter #nextchat for a while now.  It’s going to be great getting to meet and chat with people face to face!

Follow me on Twitter and LinkedIn as I’ll be sharing updates and thoughts throughout the day and follow #SHRMtalent for all the latest on the conference!
