#Conferencing is a term that has been coined by the #SHRM19Blogger contingent that took on Las Vegas.  The annual conference is an EVENT, and it can be overwhelming for those that are first-timers or even recurring attendees.  There are a LOT of blog posts by my fellow #SHRM22Influencers that will help you every step of the way for first-time attendees.  We are HR people, People people, and we are here to help!

This guide is a little bit different.  I’m a card-carrying Introvert, INTJ, and I’m here to help.

It’s been a whirlwind since about September 2 for me! Yes, I know #SHRM21 didn’t technically start until September 9, but I was fortunate to be surrounded by people I love to celebrate my birthday Labor Day weekend, and it was a CELEBRATION!

Things are crazy right now. That’s not a secret. You may be tired, overwhelmed, and unsure of what to do next. That’s okay. No one expects you to have all the answers – right now or frankly ever. They do expect you to get answers. They do expect you to make the best decision with the information you have in front of you.

We, as a society, have morphed into a celebration of busyness. Don’t believe me? Take a look at your calendar, and tell me how much white space there is…Now tell me how much peace vs. pressure you feel not to occupy the white space?

I engaged in a conversation yesterday that went something like this:

Person: “I see you work in HR…how’s that treat ya? Can be a tough job.”

Me: “I’ve been in HR for 15 years. I love it.”

Person: “It’s a position of passion for sure…”

Me: “It can be, but also has the potential for the greatest impact.”

Person: “Indeed.”

I mentioned earlier that this was my 4th time attending SHRM National. I can tell you without hesitation that it was by far the BEST SHRM National conference, yet!

Many of my fellow #SHRM19Bloggers have shared their experience at #SHRM19, and I have enjoyed reading each and every post that I have seen so far.

We’ve all been there.  Someone on our team or in our organization is behaving in a manner that would not exactly motivate us to want to help…may cause us to want to react defensively or simply ask “why should I help them when they are being so difficult?”

You may or may not have noticed that I have taken some time off from writing lately.  I have done a few pieces for a new concept at SHRM #NotionsByNicole found here.

I've been a fan of Simon Sinek for years, and as such, I am subscribed to get a daily e-mail with a pearl of wisdom.  I typically share these on various social media channels as I feel that great content and little tidbits that make you think are better shared than hoarded.

When a fellow HR Blogger invites you to be a guest on their blog, the answer is YES.  EVERY. TIME.  Wendy has thought this through, and she even provided writing prompts!  While there were plenty to pick from, one resonated with me:

“If you could change one thing about HR (as in you have a magic wand), what would you change? What steps can we take today to make that change happen?”
