Steve Levy (LinkedInTwitterThe Recruiting Inferno) is an engineer who crossed over to the dark side into HR to focus on Recruiting and Organizational Development primarily in the technology sector. Every so often he finds himself on lists touting the top HR and Recruiting practitioners using social media – to both his pride and amusement. His sense of humor notwithstanding, he is very serious about short and longer-term organizational performance: Steve was an original member of SHRM’s now shuttered Workforce Planning ANSI Taskforce); as a Founding Member of the Association of Talent Acquisition Professionals (ATAP), he is committed to developing a global platform upon which TA spreads the word about world-class recruiting; and as a member of the SourceCon Advisory Board his directive is to help create a global tribe of people sourcers. Steve recently joined Crowded.com as its VP, Customer Success and Chief Evangelist where his goal is to help companies mine all the people gold in their ATS. At the 2011 SHRM national conference, former SHRM President Susan Meisinger chaired a session entitled, “10 Things Your CEO Will Never Tell You but HR Needs to Know.”  Why wouldn’t a CEO be compelled to tell the head of HR what they tell others who sit around the table? Why, why, why?

The core issue seems to be one of HR having both a longstanding identity problem and a fairly widespread public relations problem.
