Daniel (Dan) Stokes has managed First Book’s human resources department since 2006, and was named the organization’s Chief Administration Officer in 2017. A member of the First Book Executive Team, Dan also oversees day-to-day operations at First Book, and provides strategic and operational guidance for the organization including its global growth. Dan has deep experience in human resources and accounting. Before joining First Book, he worked with publishing and media companies in New York, the Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C., and the Jewish Community Center of Greater Washington, where he led their accounting and human resources departments. Dan holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration, a master’s degree in human resources, and an MBA, all from the University of Maryland. He is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management.
Data analytics has long been used by the private sector to provide a thorough examination of organizational performance in areas such as marketing, sales, and operations. However, the social sector has lagged behind in using data-driven approaches to support organizational goals, and this is also true when it comes to human resources. It is holding the sector back.
