Mike Butler has more than 20 years’ experience working in the United Kingdom, France and the U.S. as a European HR executive and consultant working with companies such as Disneyland Paris, United Airlines and currently Unipart Logistics and Cross-Border HR.

 

Mike has advised U.S. companies setting up remote sales / IT teams outside the U.S. on all aspects of international expansion. Mike has both the CIPD (U.K.) and GPHR (U.S.) HR qualifications as well an MBA. He previously sat on SHRM’s global expertise panel and has written exam questions for Global HR certifications.

Hiring the right talent overseas is not only about identifying top performers but also understanding the constraints in attracting and ultimately retaining talent. This article seeks to show why it is about far more than conventional talent management tools.

There are two approaches to hiring the right talent in your overseas operation. You either recruit it locally or send a proven ex-pat overseas. Easier said than done as even with the best-laid plans large companies can find recruiting talent a difficult process.

Don’t Steal the Dream of Your Overseas Employees #SHRM19
