Walk into any Mega Session at the National SHRM Conference and you can expect to see some pockets of empty seats. After all, it’s hard to know how many will show up as there’s no real pre-registration for preparation. But when Steve Browne is the Mega Session speaker, be prepared for a full house. And this year was no exception.

Robert Bogue is clear about how much he wants people to be clear. Clear in the way they communicate, that is.
Retention and data. It’s a very linear relationship. The data is asked for, usually annually, by leadership so they can plan accordingly for gaps, re-training and scaling considerations. Human resources provides the data, often, and for too many HR departments, that’s it. We give the data and then exhale because our part is done. So, another year down and another begins. Big deal. Isn’t it just another day? Can’t I just make my mind up to be something more and someone better on any other day of the year? Well, yes.
SHRM was the voice of HR during both the Democratic and Republican National Conventions and was joined by hundreds of our members in each city. Each day this week, a SHRM member will tell their story about attending the political conventions!
Attending the Democratic National Convention reminded me that our ability to have impact is real and vital
